712th Tank Division

The 712th Tanks were attached to the 90th Division during the battle of Montre Castre during the first two weeks of July 1944. Led by Jim Flowers the three tanks went to the aide of the 90th. Many of these tankers paid with their lives their attempt to help. Their monument is well hidden to the south of Montre Castre. Jim Flower's story is told under the "Eye Witness" section of this web site. Nothing grows in the field where the tank burnt. See third photo.
