Lucian Hasley

Just on the edge of the small Norman village of Le Port Filiolet near Chef du Pont Lucian Hasley has turned his garage wall into a monument to members of the 82nd who passed through the villages early on D-day. The wall also commemorates members of the 325th Glider Regiment and also men of the 90th Division. The wall was started in the 1980's and now that Lucian has retired he is often on hand to explain the names and show photo's of those who have come back to visit. A little knowledge of French is helpful. Hill 30 is nearby and this one of the first battlegrounds for the 82nd and from here you can see both La Fiere and Chef du Pont. These were the two bridges that the 82nd were charged with taking.
