Memorial Day 2014

Memorial Day 2014 saw a crowd of over two thousand attend the service. Dignitaries from America and Europe attended the service, and although the Cemetery now resembles a building site in the preparations for D-Day it did not deter a good turnout. Mr Robert Tate, the US Consul from Rennes and Lieutenant Colonel Robert Stecker represented the US. Whilst Mr Patrick Thomines represented the French. The colour guard came from the US garrison in Germany whilst the Rifle Volley was provided by the French Marines from Cherbourg. The band came from the French Artillery base in Rennes and there was also a local school choir who sang both national anthems. There was no fly past again this year, perhaps the US is saying its money for D-day.
