VE Day 2009

Victory in Europe Day is a public holiday in France and is the first event to mark the second would war in Normandy.

We managed to take in just two of the ceremonies that are held in every village. The first was at the last resting place of Lt. Kelso Horne who's last resting place is near his last battle with the 82nd Airborne. You can find more pictures and the full story under the monuments section of this web site.

The second event was at Port en Bessin, which during the liberation of France was the main port where petrol can in to supply the advancing Allies.
